ABOUT BLAINE SHEPHERD
Hello! I am a Kansas City, MO native and have been creating art and theatre for as long as I can remember!
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a minor in Fiber Art at Truman State University in 2018, and my Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design and Technology at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 2021.
At Truman State, I primarily focused my work and studies towards a career in costume design, construction, fiber arts, and made the occasional onstage appearance. My summers were spent working at regional costume shops and with community theatres. Within the TSU Theatre Department, I was employed as a Costume Shop Intern and served as the 2017 – 2018 Alpha Psi Omega President. I also acquired commendations and awards for my work on realized and unrealized productions at Truman State University.
At CCM I worked as a Graduate Assistant in the CCM Costume Shop, and committed to costume design and crafts. Throughout my education and professional work, I have strengthened my skills in millinery, dyeing, draping & patterning, costume design, and wig styling.
I continue to pursue opportunities, primarily in costume crafts and costume design, but I recently began creating my own artwork and clothing, and creating my own at home costume shop. I enjoy scouring whatever city I am in for secondhand fabric, notions, and trim to use in my work and to share with my fellow costumers.
